Communications

QSM communicates in one or more of several ways. The mode of communication with a client is determined by the client. Ordinarily a preferred means is chosen at the time a relationship is established, and any special issues are resolved.

Some common means are:

  • Email without special encryption;

  • Email with one of several popular encryption programs (we help the client enable its communications and computer systems, if necessary);

  • Some combination of the previous two means;

  • Facsimile;

  • Courier;

  • Mail.

Information sent over the Internet may not be entirely secure.  If information is considered sensitive, please contact us regarding security issues.

QSM communicates on a daily basis with clients around the world; and as a result, we are quite familiar with the challenges and pitfalls.

Office Technology

QSM’s office desktop and mobile laptop computers connect with its network on a server based in Bermuda. The standard desktop is a Pentium III machine running MS Outlook® 2000 for email. All users have access to the Microsoft® Office 2000 Premium for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations; graphics tools including Microsoft Visio ®; the Company’s intranet; Internet access using MS Internet Explorer™; Chinese language programs; and access to a variety of other company-specific databases, as needed. Each office uses high-speed DSL or ADSL lines; and we regularly compress and transmit large-content files. All printers have upgraded memory, and some also serve as fax machines and scanners. As a general policy, the Firm leans toward storing documents in digital form.
